KOF Database
Since its founding in 1938, the KOF has accumulated a unique pool of Swiss and international data. Quarterly and monthly survey data at the company level date back to the early 1970s and are among the most valuable and special parts of the KOF database.
KOF data are well established in Switzerland as they help to monitor the country's economy. Our data are being used in the construction of various KOF indicators from the Barometer to the Employment Indicator.
Micro Data and Time Series – How to Access KOF Data?
The KOF Database consists of two main parts: time series at different levels of granularity and firm level information. Most of KOF's micro data stem from the KOF Business Tendency Surveys. These surveys are also the basis for a large share of KOF's aggregated time series.
KOF collects information at company level and computes sector and industry level time series suited to cover the Swiss economy. In addition to its survey based time series, KOF collects national and international time series from different Swiss and foreign sources.
Data processing of the KOF data service does not only include seasonal adjustment or outlier correction, but also the transfer of information into industry standard formats in order to foster automated consumption of data. KOF time series are available for download via a web based REST application programming interface (API). Details can be found at KOF time series.
Micro data are only available to academic researchers. , which does not contain company addresses or fragments thereof. Analyses can only be run during a stay at the KOF Micro Data Centre.
