Insights Empowering Decisions: The KOF Swiss Economic Institute provides data from research results and assesments so that fact-based decisions can be made for Switzerland.
Founded in 1938, the KOF is Switzerland's leading academic institute for applied economic research. It provides independent and objective data and facts as well as timely assessments to support decision-makers in politics and business in making fact-based decisions for the benefit of Swiss society. Through its tasks of national importance – observing and analysing the Swiss economy – and its independent, high-quality research, the KOF builds bridges between economics and the public. We translate research results in a way that is understandable and useful to the public. The institute is also a platform for economists, especially in Switzerland.
Our supporting association, the SGK Society, our committees and our affiliation with ETH Zurich enable us to conduct our research independently and free from vested interests. Within ETH Zurich, the KOF Institute is part of the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (D-MTEC).
