Political Economics, Environmental Economics
I am particularly interested in approaches that integrate economic research with related subjects such as politics, geography, and the environment. I develop empirical analyses with a focus on causal relationships, often using quasi-experiments derived from historical and natural events.
A major part of my work focuses on explaining the decision-making behavior of politicians and voters in the face of unforeseen situations and changing conditions. My researchcall_made addresses current real-world problems such as the allocation of scarce resources, natural disaster management, migration, and nationalism. I have published in leading journals such as The Review of Economics and Statisticscall_made, the American Economic Journal: Economic Policycall_made, and the Journal of Public Economicscall_made.
