KOF-Baublatt-Outlook

Most construction projects in Switzerland require a permit. Information about submitted construction requests and granted permissions can be used to predict expected construction investments. Data on requests and permits collected by baublatt are being evaluated by KOF and tested for their forecasting properties regarding construction investments.

On the basis of the building permits, the KOF has developed an outlook that allows a forecast of the nominal construction investments to be expected in the next four quarters.

The two KOF-Baublatt-indicators are published quarterly in external page baublatt. They show expected construction investments in million SFr. as well as the rate of change compared to the previous year. Nominal capital expenditures are featured in these indicators because the statements in the requests and permits are provided at current prices.

Due to seasonal fluctuations in construction permissions and building activity, investments in levels are subject to seasonal adjustment.
