KOF Economic Barometer Is Falling
In August 2018, the KOF Economic Barometer fell slightly by 1.4 points to a new reading of 100.3. It thus now pints to a level that is only marginally above its long-term average. Accordingly, in the near future Swiss growth should hover around its average over the last ten years.
KOF Business Tendency Surveys, July 2018: Swiss Economy Currently on the Ascent – Outlook Less Optimistic
The KOF Business Situation Indicator rose once again in July and more than made up the slight decline of the preceding month. The Indicator thus reverted to the upward trend it embarked on in spring 2016. Nevertheless, the companies’ business expectations are no longer quite as positive as they were in the first half of the year. The Swiss economy is enjoying a summer boom with just a few clouds on the horizon.
KOF Employment Indicator: Scores of Companies Plan to Create New Jobs
Positive news from the Swiss labour market are piling up: According to the current KOF Employment Indicator, rising numbers of companies are planning to create more jobs in the next three months. For the first time in ten years, even the situation in the hotel and catering sector is reasonably favourable.
