The KOF Economic Barometer increases by 2.1 points in November to a value of 101.8 (after revised 99.7 in October). All of the production-side indicator bundles included in the KOF Economic Barometer are contributing to the increase. The indicators for manufacturing, financial and insurance service providers, the hospitality industry, other services and construction all show a positive tendency. On the demand side, the indicators for consumer demand are hardly changing and continue to point to a rather favourable development. By contrast, the outlook for foreign demand is dampening.
Within the producing industry (manufacturing and construction), the indicators for different aspects of business activity show predominantly positive developments. Particularly the sub-indicators for production activity, order books, as well as for the general business situation send a positive signal. This is contrasted by a more dampened outlook for the employment and primary products sub-indicator bundles.
Within the manufacturing industry, the paper and printing industry, the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, as well as machinery manufacturing all point to positive developments. However, the electrical industry, the textile industry, and the wood, glass, stone and earth sector experience a setback.
