KOF Economic Barometer Falls Back to its Long-term Average
The KOF Economic Barometer for May fell by 3.3 points to a new standing of exactly 100 points. The last time the Barometer had a similar standing was in December 2015. The current value of 100 points to an average development of the Swiss economy in the coming months.

Swiss tourism regions can look back on a successful winter season. According to the latest KOF forecasts, prospects for the summer season and the coming two years are good. Thanks to the positive economic trend in the Eurozone and the improved exchange rate, Switzerland is recording renewed growth in the number of European visitors. KOF’s current special analysis shows that the exchange rate trend has a different effect on the various regions.
KOF Business Tendency Surveys: Swiss economy at a stable high
The KOF Business Situation Indicator edged back up in April after having dipped slightly in the previous month. Overall, therefore, the Indicator has stabilised around the highest level it has reached since 2014. The Swiss economy’s upward trajectory is intact.
KOF Employment Indicator: Firms Planning to Create Jobs
Companies in Switzerland are performing well, and this situation is feeding through into their plans to hire more workers. The KOF Employment Indicator remains in positive territory, with only the retail and hospitality sectors lagging behind.
