Qualifications Survey (1998)

Aims

Technological and organisational changes as well as globalisation are giving rise to a structural change in skill requirements. In order to examine these problems we conducted a panel survey at the beginning of 1998 – in association with the Sociological Institute of the University of Zurich (SIUZ). The data collected enabled us to paint a differentiated picture of the change in the demand for labour and the new standards of public and in-company training and further vocational training. In addition, we used these data (and those from the internationalisation survey that was conducted in the same year) to analyse the impact of technological progress and globalisation on the skills structure of the demand for labour by the enterprises surveyed. A more extensive survey that was specifically designed to record the organisational change was produced in autumn 2000.
